Imagine a life without your computer, your air-conditioned car, a roof over your head. You can't, can you? But millions of children around the world can... and do. Millions of children around the world live in these devastating conditions. They are holding on to their hopes and dreams, making a Wish each night for a better future. Let us grant that Wish.
Wish is an organization that was founded in 2009 to stop illiteracy. Co-founders Naina Singh and Nina Gupta both believe that illiteracy is one of the largest contributors to an abundance of the world's tribulations. Although many organizations have been established to combat illiteracy and eradicate indigence, those solitary efforts cannot destroy illiteracy alone. Wish, therefore, supports similar organizations that aim to minimize the difficulties faced by kids not only in United States but around the world. Wish has five core programs: Wish Teach Program, Wish Partners, Wishes, Wish Pals, and the ARC system. Through these five core programs, Wish has provided innumerable persons with resources and positive attitudes for the future.
Wish's Goals for the 2011-2012 Year:
- Raise awareness. Education remains in the background with many organizations on campus. Many already focus on health care and poverty. Education is the key needed to unlock the future for children everywhere.
- Gather many books and supplies to use on our teaching tours
- Wish Teach Program: Raise funds to go on teaching tours
- Wish Partners: Further the efforts of Vibha, Gawad Kalinga, Kshamata, Tripura Foundation, and their dedicated volunteers
Help our cause and help these kids get a proper education. Join us in being the change we want to see in the world.
